I have decided to make a small range of chess boards and a bespoke chess board service for those looking for very high quality , unique, handmade boards.

The boards can be made in any size, wood combination you desire, perhaps to match a room or table, or just to your personal preference.

The boards i produce are solid wood, NOT Veneers. NOT mass produced and advertised as handmade! and are made to a very high standard

Each playing square has been cut to an exact size from a single board and is at least 10mm thick. This means if the board should ever become damaged or scratched, it can be refinished a number of times, ensuring your board will allways look in top condition. The squares are glued onto a wood backing. I then laminate MDF onto the base of the board purely to prevent the board from warping. The board is then edged in any style/wood to suit and inlays/stringlines around the playing area can be added.

The base of the chess board is then covered in real leather or suede, available in a number of different colours.

Finally the chess boards are oiled and polished with furniture wax made by a local furniture restorer to a traditional recipe, and buffed to a gloss finish.

The result is a truly stunning, unique board that you will not see anywhere else. A centrepoint in any room and a joy to play on.
